A video capturing a heated argument between a judge and a Michigan woman who sued a man for $10,000 for standing her up on a date has been making rounds. QaShontae H. Short filed the lawsuit against her no-show date on September 10, 2020, citing emotional distress as the date was her late mother's birthday. However, Judge Herman Marable Jr. informed Short that she filed the lawsuit in the wrong court and that the case should have been filed in circuit court.

 The defendant stated that he thought the case would be thrown out as they only had one date and that he did not want to waste the judge's time. Short, then yelled about perjury, to which the judge raised his voice and took off his face shield. The judge eventually transferred the suit to the circuit court after muting the Zoom call.

" 

The video sparked outrage, but it also raised questions about its origins. BBC AfricaEye and BBC EyeInvestigations reporters tracked down "Uncle Susu," the person responsible for filming the video, to a remote Malawian village. Despite the evidence against him, Uncle Susu denies making the video. The documentary ends with the BBC team driving away, leaving Uncle Susu behind with the exploited children and their families. A man from Philadelphia has been taken into police custody after stabbing his fiancé to death and leaving her body in a gold Honda Odyssey. According to the Philadelphia Inquirer, 34-year-old Raymond Thompson turned himself in over the weekend and has been charged with killing Ashley Lockhart, 32, in a brutal knife attack. Lockhart was found in the van with multiple stab wounds to her body and face. Thompson has admitted to the killing, saying that he believed Lockhart was cheating on him. He left her body in the passenger seat of the van and then went to Kensington to use heroin before calling the police to turn himself in.

Assistant District Attorney Joanne Pescatore confirmed that Lockhart had previously filed a Protection From Abuse order against Thompson, but the two were still living together. Lockhart’s family has set up a GoFundMe page to support her six daughters, who are returning to school soon. The page has surpassed its initial goal of $30,000, with donations going towards ensuring that the girls are not separated after the loss of their mother. Dallas Love Field Airport was thrown into chaos on Monday when a 37-year-old woman opened fire with a handgun in the airport’s ticket counter area. According to Dallas Police Chief Edgardo Garcia, the woman walked into a bathroom, changed her clothing, and then fired her gun at the ceiling. The motive behind her actions is still being investigated. An officer shot her in her "lower extremities" to subdue her, and she was then arrested and taken to a hospital. Thankfully, nobody else was injured in the incident. Following the shooting, the airport was evacuated, and Dallas police began their investigation. Southwest Airlines flights into and out of Dallas Love Field were placed on hold. It was not until around 2 p.m. Central that normal security checkpoint operations resumed. The woman’s identity has not been released. This is not the first time that Dallas Love Field Airport has been the site of a shooting. In 2016, a man was injured after advancing toward an officer with large landscaping rocks.

New York City Mayor Eric Adams has urged Governor Kathy Hochul to hold an emergency session of the legislature to reform criminal justice laws. The demand comes after two 16-year-olds were released without bail following a brutal assault on two transit cops who stopped them for fare evasion. The assault, captured on video, shows one of the teens punching and wrestling one of the officers to the ground, even putting the officer in a headlock. The mayor and head of the police union have pleaded for state action, but Hochul is hesitant to take action during her re-election campaign as changing the laws could harm her politically.

Adams is pushing for a review of the state bail law and the rise of the age law, which allows defendants under 18 to be sent to family court. He wants lawmakers to re-examine the bail laws in the area of violent offenders. Police officers have seen a rise in assaults, with 914 cops attacked year-to-date through July 17, compared to 686 during the same period last year. The police union is demanding change, citing the ease with which criminals can fight a cop and walk free.

While the teenager in question has two prior arrests, the state Assembly speaker says the decision to release the 16-year-old suspect was made by the judge, and pre-trial detention can be sought in family court under the current law. As we all know, cell phones have a fingerprint scanner that allows for secure access to the device. However, firearms, which are deadly weapons, don't have such safety features.

It is time for firearm manufacturers to start implementing fingerprint scanners on all their guns. This technology could prevent up to 40% of accidental deaths caused by firearms. As a result, I asked firearm manufacturers why they are hesitant to install these safety features on their products.

It is crucial that we take every possible measure to prevent accidental deaths caused by firearms. The implementation of fingerprint scanners would not only provide an added layer of safety but also prevent unauthorized use of firearms, including stolen weapons.

We must put safety first and demand that firearm manufacturers prioritize safety features. It is our responsibility as citizens to ensure that firearms are used safely and responsibly. We owe it to ourselves, our families, and our communities to take action and prevent senseless tragedies caused by irresponsible gun use.

The police officers had arrived at the residence of Rachel Clay for a welfare check, as per local news outlet KWTV-TV. Clay was behaving erratically and had to be detained in a police car. Video footage from inside the vehicle showed Clay alone in the backseat, attempting to free herself from the handcuffs. Eventually, she succeeded in freeing one of her hands, reached through the partition between the front and back seats, grabbed the officer's AR-15, and started shooting. Reports indicate that she fired 10 shots, injuring a civilian and a deputy. The Grady County Sheriff's Office confirmed that one officer was wounded with non-life-threatening injuries. Clay was arrested after a three-hour standoff in the car and charged with shooting with intent to kill. She is being held under a $1 million bond. According to ABC-7, Clay tested positive for methamphetamines, and court documents cited by KFor, an Oklahoma news site, revealed that she has a history of mental illness and is currently unmedicated. Grady County Undersheriff Gary Boggess called the incident a "freak deal," adding that the authorities are examining ways to prevent it from happening again.

 GBI investigating West Point officer accused of saying N-word on doorbell camera

A police officer from West Point is being investigated for alleged misconduct following a complaint, according to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation. The complaint comes from a homeowner who claims that Ring doorbell camera footage shows the officer using racial slurs and throwing the camera into the bushes. The video has been shared numerous times on social media.

Tomeshia Madden, the homeowner, says that she and her teenage son no longer feel comfortable living in West Point after hearing what the officer said outside their house. They are now seeking a new city to live in.

The Ring doorbell video, which is approximately two minutes long, shows two West Point police officers arriving at the home. The first officer appears to be waiting for someone to answer the door, while the second walks up and says something unintelligible, according to the GBI.

Madden says she heard the officer say "all these f-ing n**s have cameras in this neighborhood." She claims the officer then threw the camera into the bushes, allegedly attempting to conceal evidence.

Madden and her attorney, Wendell Major, believe that the officer's actions erode the community's trust in law enforcement. "It is not appropriate for public officials to make racially derogatory terms during their duties," Major said. He added that the officer, in uniform, concealed evidence of what happened.

The West Point Police Department confirmed that the officer is one of their own but declined to comment further while the GBI investigates. The officer has been placed on administrative leave while the investigation is ongoing. Once complete, the case file will be handed over to the Coweta Judicial Circuit District Attorney’s office for review.
